Solas's Role in Dragon Age: The Veilguard | New Details on Solas's Storyline, Role & Fate
Since the ending of the Trespasser DLC in 2015, a strong and clear motivation was set for the Inquisitor, the remnants of the Inquisition and the new hero in the next Dragon Age game: should they attempt to redeem Solas or seek his demise?
Whether an elven god can truly be defeated is uncertain, but the expectation was clear: the player’s choice regarding Solas's fate must be resolved in the next game.
And it brings me so much joy to say that BioWare have confirmed closure and a varied conclusion based on our choices for Solas’s narrative in the next Dragon Age. Which, as a Solavellan, is something so so many of us are ecstatic to hear.

Dragon’s Dogma 2 | Plot, Romance, Characters - Story Overview
i'm desperate to find out what's gone down with the hero of ferelden and alistair during this time jump... part of me is terrified they'll be dead and gone already but i'm still holding out hope hof found that damn cure!!
I worry about how they’re going to portray a Dalish Rook coming to terms with the fact that the Elven gods they worship and got their faces tattooed for are evil.
I am def with all the Solavellan ships, just wanna see my egg romance after so long! ❤ I am also curious though how or if they'll address what Solas told us about the anchor killing us eventually??? 😢
My inquisitor waiting 10 years for Solas and in comes Rook 👁️👄👁️
Why they killed my boy Fairbanks.
I am so excited for this! I also wonder if Cole will peak out anywhere if you'd strengthened his spirit self in Inquisition? The way my game ended I thought Cole would have gone with Solas and stayed close to him. So, I am super curious if this will be a thing.
Possibly I know that a lot of people will show up in the game including the inquistor
I think Rook will play a crucial role in convincing Solas to listen to the inquisitor. The inquisitor then takes over in convincing Solas to stop his plans. If that is the course the player wishes to take, of course.
You mean the two dudes at the end of the gameplay trailer standing behind Solas?
🙌 A video on Solas?! 🙌 This day just got better!!
Fall can't come fast enough
What if I want Solas to win? Elves > all.
helping the elves in their current form is impossible to do without some bloodshed, the best way to help them would once again be to give them their own homeland, but I feel that none of the human kingdoms would willingly give that. as long as the elves don't have their own homeland, their position is threatened and because of our character, whatever it is, it hardly changes the attitude of all kingdoms towards the elves. + I think the elves have the right to keep their ways if they want. I don't care what the original purpose of tattoos was, they have a different purpose today. A real life example of this is the cross, originally a Roman instrument of torture and execution, nowadays a symbol of hope...etc etc etc... I'll probably help Solas myself, of course to see if it's possible to bring the world back to its original "glory"... "you can't make an omelette without breaking a couple of eggs", etc. it's going to be messy but "it's a sacrifice I'm willing to make".(; but if "resetting the world" is not possible, then I will help the elves in all other ways.(if possible) I think the world would be more interesting if there was an own kingdom for the elves, alternatively it could be interesting to see a post-apocalyptic Thedas / world in future games, to see how "the return of magic affected" what new threats and dangers it would bring. how civilizations would rebuild and adapt to a changed world. + technically those gods were freed because of player interference and not because of Solas. Solas wanted to move them to a new prison, the old one was falling apart. so technically it's the player's fault that those two angry and corrupt "gods" are free. Solas can be blamed for planning and implementing the end of the world, but not for releasing those gods. + "the end of the world" and the beginning of a new world would be a memorable ending and what it meant for survivors and potential new conflicts and stories is limitless. Imagine what great new threats and stories it would bring + the end of the world is not new to this world. many civilizations fell because of the Blight. Blight is like the end of the world especially the first one was like that. something big has to happen to the world, for me at least "status quo" would be a boring way to end the game something big has to happen at the end, something that points to the next game and its events. and at least to me, "the end of the world" and the "beginning of a new world" would be a grandiose way to end the game. it would be interesting to see the rebuilding of civilizations and empires and kingdoms. and so on. maybe it's forced maybe it's dictated by fate maybe the only thing we can do is try to minimize the damage it causes. maybe we could decide who suffers the most. + if it is really possible to break Fade, maybe in the future someone will try it again. maybe it's better to tear it up now and try to do it in a controlled way anyway. with the guidance of its creator.
I'm starting to think Solas isn't as much an expert on how to deal with the Veil as he thinks he is. He can't help but get himself unintentionally magically intertwined with some random person.
Pretty sure the two elven gods did that and took advantage of rook making the prison fail and hurt them and turned the prison on them
I don’t think you can kill the eleven gods I feel like you can only weaken them and trap 🪤 them 😁
My elven mage is going to kill Solas, as she swears to do after trespasser. If she cant, because Bioware wont allow that, this would be a major disappointment. Probably one of many.
You aren't playing as the inquistor so your new character doesn't have that motivation Now I am not saying you can't or can kill him but saying that it's a whole new character however your inquistor will be in the game so that may happen
Great video, as always, Jack! But everyone, when's the release date? Opinions.
Solas should die because he clearly can’t live in a world knowing that his ppl was once great like Emet In FF14
Is the VOICE of "All the world will soon share the peace and comfort of my reign" Solas after all? Does Solas plan to rule? Did he always plan to rule? He walked among both 'The People' and the 'Forgotten Ones' while both trusted him, as the Inquisition trusted him, as most of us trust him. But the Forgotten Ones were elves, and they seem to be gone. The last of the untainted Pantheon seems to be Solas. Mythal seems to be gone. Now Solas seems imprisoned, ready to advise Rook, to draw parallels between them, telling Rook secrets and steps to take, guilting Rook with accusation of a mistake that put tainted ancient Elvhen into Thedas. Does Solas mean to destroy Thedas except for elves and have the magic back as he rules? 🤔 Solas: "I would not have you see what I become."
the voice is NOT solas
@@Inariele Maybe or maybe not. Solas plus Dreadwolf and Mythal spirit may sound a little different. I'm wondering. No worries. Also, could it be David Sterne's voice, possibly as Elgar'nan? Dragon Age: Inquisition (2014 Video Game) David Sterne: Corypheus, The Nightmare, Lord Abernache's Herald, Orlesian Nobleman, Grand Ball Attendee
I would like to know how Morrigan's son plays into this. He has the soul of an old god, but it was never said which old god. After 10 years, he would be a young man now.
It's the Old God we killed: Urthemiel. But who is Urthemiel in the Pantheon? (Flemeth seems to remove Urthemiel's soul from Kieran and take it into herself before departing.)
Err yes we do thats been confirmed since day one and He doesn't have the soul anymore flemeth absorbed it and then Solas absorbed both of them
Given the gems all over Solas' banter with other companions, having him commenting on things like SAM has a huge potential for hilarity to insue. I really don't want to believe he would resort to Red Lyrium, given his aversion to Blight Magic, I'm hoping even when desperate he wouldn't cross that line. I badly want a happy Solavellan ending to exist...I don't necessarily want that ending to be easy to get, but I want it to be possible! And now I am curious about those potential younger Solas (with hair) flashbacks.
He destroyed Bianca. He gotta go! Lol 😂
The games have a history of having redemption options available for complex characters who have done awful things. I hope this will be the case and a romanced Lavellan and him can have an option for a “happy or at least “bitter sweet” ending together
i would like to know that "precautions" he took to minimize death/damage/whatever he said. And the whole thing with Mythal's well, if Solas absorbed Mythal and Inky drank the well, something must happen with that, especially a romanced Inky. His whiny complaining when you drink the well is too blatant, you can practically hear the you''re-ruining-my-plan subtext.
All I want is for there to be an option or path where we see Solas at his worst: his most prideful, self-righteous and conniving, believing that his way is the only way forward to protect/save the world...and then I want to see the look of abject horror or shame when our Rook beats him and finds a better solution thT Solas never even considered. And as we kill him, he dies realizing his arrogance nearly doomed the world...again and that all of his sacrifices, all of the peoples he deceived and betrayed was for nothing. Solas can be an interesting and complex character, but I don't want to be forced into allowing him a chancef at redemption or have the narrative try to paint whatever he tries to do over the course of the game as just or good or even misunderstood. Let me call Solas out on his BS and let me BEAT him. Not compromise, not redeem or extend an olive branch. I want to beat him and be right in doing so. Solas should not be allowed to be viewed as the hero.
Why do I have a feeling that one possibility that Solas/Dreadwolf Solas killing Lavellan in a rage by accident and that's the moment he realizes that it's not worth it anymore and sacrifices himself to save the world and inevitably fulfills the fear of dying alone by his own hand
I've been very much against the idea of Solas getting redeemed/getting his happy ending with the Inquisitor. I intend to be adversarial with him as Rook, no matter how much the game tries to force me to understand/like him. But Jack's idea that he would end up trying to help the Dalish rebuild after the events of this game is intriguing. I could definitely see and accept an ending where Solas has to give up all of his magic and godly gifts to shut down the Fade/stop the bad guys and devote himself as a mortal to helping not his elves, but the downtrodden Dalish elves that exist now. Essentially, this would be Solas losing the thing most dear to him, his magic, as a result of his actions. This would fit nicely with the idea of his pride in his own power being the primary issue with him and would represent a loss to him worse than just dying to him. With an ending like this, everyone would get what they want, Solavellans get their romance/redemption, those who befriended him get closure but Solas still pays for his actions. Moreover, it fits with the element of the world passing on to the new generation of heroes as it removes the Inquisitor and Solas off the board as future companions.
I'm not sure that Solas is even planning on mass genocide anymore. Yes, he used to believe that was the only way. But he tells Varric he took steps to limit casualties (which, imo, could be dialogue based on his relationship level with the inquisitor). That is directly in opposition to what he originally told us 10 years before. I think that we will learn that Solas's plan no longer involves the destruction of all Thedas. That there will surely be casualties as demons enter, but that once the ritual is complete he will be able to bring down the veil and still save most of Thedas.
He wasn't actually planning that to begin with things went wrong then and now
I thought with rebirth the spirit loses not only themselves but their memories. If the is true wouldn’t that mean moving on with Lavellan hard if not impossible? Maybe this process is different with a god and he could keep his memories.
Solas Silverhand moment.
I think a Rook and Solas romance would actually be so interesting, unlikely but interesting nonetheless
Hero of Ferelden please Bio Ware
Right? *sigh*
imagine like if solas is like the kyuubi to rook and we get the powers from him and be like a god it'd be so badass
Do it for the 🥚
Maybe we could consider Solas actually succeeding in the end... Just not the way we think. I mean, he is so certain that the only way to restore the world of the ancient elves involves the destruction of current Thedas. But really, we only have his word for it. Maybe there is another way.
I think this is definitely possible. In gameplay Solas said he took steps to limit the casualties, which would tell us that his plan no longer required the death of all of Thedas. That was his original plan 10 years before, but they've obviously changed.
We know that Solas isn't infallible, so maybe if he succeeds in his plan, he destroys not only all humans but his elven people too, because they've changed so much over the ages, and then he dies alone as the only survivor. 🙂
wait are you saying in his original plan, the elves wouldn't die? I thought by breaking the veil, all living creatures on Thedas would be wiped out (killed in the chaos or possessed by spirits or died of old age later) and spirits in Fade would become beings similar to the old elves.
@Myraculous_ Only some will die and the elves would have regained their immortality
Talk about replayability. I've got an Inquisitors who loved him, liked him and drove him out. That's three ways right there.
First playthrough I’m going with the wardens
